Uche Ignites Comfortable Crystal Palace Triumph at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Even though entering their first-ever European campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are adapting very quickly. Missing key players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a comfortable win that all but secures them a place in the Conference League qualifying rounds.

A further three points in their upcoming match against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to seal direct passage to the last 16, especially following a previous stumble against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Seize the Opportunity

This match provided a platform for some of Palace's lesser-used players to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second start after joining on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a well-taken finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, finding the net for the second consecutive succession.

The Shelbourne team that had concluded their league season were no match even for a largely rotated Palace lineup. The Londoners were already depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee injuries.

Control Asserted from the Start

Despite torrential rain in Dublin, Palace quickly took control. A slick passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to lay on Uche for a simple finish.

Midfielder Adam Wharton went close soon after, driving a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah subsequently claimed for a penalty after racing into the area, but the referee waved away the protests.

The formerArsenal man did not have wait long to get his goal, tapping home from a yard out after Uche's shot had struck the post.

The home side were hanging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to avoid a booking for two agricultural tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a header from a corner.

The contest was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest key players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring his first touch, but saw his effort blocked.

The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then blazed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still room for improvement in his game.

A solitary worry for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, capping an otherwise positive evening for the traveling side.
